Afterschool ClubsDouble DutchStudents will learn how to Double Dutch jump rope or become a better jump roper. Jumping rope is a great way to have fun and stay in shape at the same time.
StorytellingLearn about the ancient art of storytelling. Each person will choose a story to learn and tell. In November, we produce our 10th annual Tellabration, an evening of storytelling performances, one of hundreds taking place all over the world that weekend. In December, the tellers go around to Kensico classrooms telling their stories.
LEGO RoboticsStudents will be introduced to building robots. They will learn how to design, construct, and program a robot and determine how it reacts to the environment through challenges on an obstacle course.
CeramicsStudents will create several hand-built clay pieces that will be fired in the kiln. The finished pieces will be either painted or glazed.
Around the WorldStudents will play games, hear stories, create crafts, and sample foods from many different countries Around the World.
Conversational SpanishThis club is for students with no previous knowledge of Spanish. Vocabulary will be introduced through games, movement, and music. Crafts will also be included. Some of the topics covered will be greetings, numbers, parts of the body, clothing, colors, calendar, weather, family, and foods. The accent is on fun!
Paint Like an ImpressionistStudents will work with tempera paint, learn to mix and match colors, and learn to use their paint brush as the Impressionists did. They will work from Monet's, Mary Cassat's, Van Gogh's, and Seurat's paintings, producing their won work on canvas.
