Kensico School has about 400 students in Grades 3-5 (ages 8-11). There are 18 classes, plus one self-contained special education class. We also host 3 TSP classes operated by Southern Westchester BOCES. (BOCES stands for Board Of Co-operative Educational Services, and is a consortium of area schools that provides special education, staff development, and administrative support to member schools.) Kensico School is the newest school in our district, replacing Columbus Ave. School as our 3rd to 5th grade building. Each grade has its own wing, and many of the rooms have exposed wooden beams and vaulted ceilings. There is a large cafeteria, beautiful library, computer lab, science room, woods and fields around the building (even a pond!), and a high school-sized gym (used by VHS teams after school) which the kids love on indoor recess days! • Kensico School Floorplan: Showing whose classroom is where, as well as where different services are located in the building. • Photo Tour of Kensico School: Take a photographic tour around Kensico School. Written descriptions by Mr. Wright's 2005-6 3rd Grade class. • The Building of Kensico School: A scrapbook in words and pictures of the planning and construction of Kensico School, from groundbreaking to moving in. |
